■Power-to-Weight Ratio (PWR)

It is expressed as the ratio of weight to rated power as follows. The smaller the value, the better the acceleration ability of the car. Rated power is the maximum power that can be output continuously for a specified period of time.

This expression "power-to-weight ratio" is unique to Japan. First of all, PS is no longer used much to express power output, and has been replaced by the international standard kW. Also, it is more common worldwide to divide power output by vehicle weight, rather than vehicle weight by power output.

■Power-to-Mass Ratio (PMR)

It is expressed as the ratio of rated power to weight as follows. In the WLTP, a method for measuring fuel efficiency, vehicles are classified according to this PMR.
